In today’s phones, fast charging is limited by thermal efficiency. With inductive based solutions, fast chargers simply overheat and then must reduce charge rates to remain safe. Cirrus logic is leveraging switch-cap fast chargers to enable much higher efficiency which can lead to lowering heat dissipation. By lowering heat dissipation, the IC can charge faster for a longer period of time, resulting in faster charge times.
